Erin created a look for the modern bride with long strands of pearls and necklaces some with bling and some without.

They have arrived!  We have unpacked the gorgeous and amazing 2010 collection from Erin Cole Designs.  For the past several years Erin Cole has been awarded Bridal Accessory Designer of the Year.  There are plenty of reasons she can hold on to her title and they are available at White Couture.  Erin keeps us up to date and creates the fashion trend when it comes to bridal accessories.  She offers a variety of veils, hair pins and jewelry.  When I was married thirteen wonderful years ago in Huntington Beach, California I purchased my gown at a bridal studio in Newport Beach where Erin worked as an intern.  Erin never stopped creating her own fashions and had a knack for bridal.  After witnessing so many brides trying to accessorize but unable to find the right look, she decided to market her own designs.  All it took was one Bridal Market in New York and she was a hit.  Now Erin Cole brings you the ability to “complete” your look.  We invite you to view the collection and accessorize yourself with the help from one of the White Couture Stylists.  Every bride looking for accessories is always welcome.  Didn’t buy your gown at White Couture?  No problem.  We are happy to help you and we encourage you to bring your gown so we may help you accessorize it.  We want to be sure to select the right pieces in the right color.   Take a peek at the new collection or come in person and see it for yourself!

Amazing veils; some conservative, others traditional. Erin Cole has them all.

Tip Tuesday | Jazz Up Your First Dance

firstdance6firstdance5

A first dance is what we traditionally use to kick off the party.  I want to show you how much fun you can have with your first dance if you invest in a few dance lessons and choreograph a dance to make your first a special one.  You don’t have to be a pro to look like a pro.  Our clients shown in these photos took the time to learn some fancy foot work and choreograph a dance to Bye Bye Birdie, a song that was the bride’s grandmother’s favorite.  Grandma sang this song to the bride growing up.  In her grandmother’s absense (she passed away last year) she decided to dedicate her First Dance to her memory and was introduced to the dance floor with her groom to this special tune and a few facts about her grandmother.  Apparently her grandmother was a fun, vivacious woman who could make everyone feel great about themselves.

The Joe Muscolino Band learned this special tune and played it perfectly at the reception.  The bride and groom brought smiles to the guests faces as they entered the room.  They filled the dance floor with every step they took.  Guests cheered them on as this was an unexpected treat.  When we asked the bride and groom how it felt to make this a special dance, they both agreed it was time well spent to learn the dance!  They looked like pros and according to the groom this was very out of character for him.  You would have never known they weren’t pros.  If you think you might like to choreograph your first dance, consider calling Marjene Anderson in Salt Lake City (801) 530-1335.  She is one of the best and has assisted many of our clients in making their dance a special one!  There are many song titles that work well for a first dance, father-daughter, and mother-son dance.  Make sure you select one that is right for you or has a special meaning.  You’ll look back one day and remember the moment, I guarantee it!

Look at these accessories.  Erin Cole’s collection is sure to win her Bridal Accessory Designer of the Year AGAIN!  Her veils, brooches, earrings and now belts are so perfect for any gown.  She has captured the true meaning of accessories.  All of Erin Cole’s designs are made of the finest swarvorski crystals and sterling silver.  We caught up with Erin at bridal market and went nuts with our ordering.  We got a little bit of everything to show you.  Her chunky necklace is one of my personal favorites.  The look is a good one and adds so much excitement to a bride’s gown.  Recently Erin custom designed a art deco headband for Dominique who purchased her gown and accessories at White Couture.  Dominique’s entire wedding theme was art deco and we saw the headband we new it was the perfect touch.  To top it off, Erin made Dom a cocktail ring and matching cuff.  Her Napa Valley wedding was a hit with all of her Utah friends who traveled for the weekend festivities to celebrate with she and Eric.  Dom looked fabulous.  Erin Cole certainly helped to add the finishing touch to her gown.

Erin Cole made Dominiques headband with a flower and feather for her art deco wedding. She also made her the cocktail ring and cuff with mother of pearl. These pieces completed her look!

My advice to every bride; Don’t settle for what’s on display if it isn’t just perfect.  Ask your bridal stylist for custom opportunities.  Creating your custom accessories won’t add to the price but it certainly adds to your look.  Erin Cole offers many options from her collection but if you don’t see the perfect piece, ask for other options.  You’ll be so surprised and impressed with her customer service.  We are so happy to bring you Erin Cole designs.  Stop by and let us help  you get accessorized.  Bring your gown and shoes even if you purchased it at another bridal salon and we’ll make it complete!

Last night we attended the annual Dine-Around Social at Deer Valley Resort.  We toured and tasted the many restaurant options and met the chefs of these fabulous venues.  The evening began with hot toddies at the Snow Park Lodge.  We warmed up with Peppermint Patties (hot cocoa, peppermint liquor, homemade whipped cream, and shaved peppermint sprinkles!).  What a way to get into the spirit.  After mingling for a bit, we zipped up to the Royal Street Cafe via the Silver Lake Express chair lift.  Upon our arrival, we were greeted with wine, beer and the award winning signature cocktail “St. Germain Cocktail” (Prosecco,  St. Germain Liquor-Elderflower, and a splash of soda).  These were a festive and great way to begin your first course.  You can always count on Deer Valley to provide you with exceptional service and great food.  We enjoyed bison burger sliders and tuna tartar on a homemade crisp chip.  This gave us a chance to meet a few new faces and then off to the next venue!  We walked to The Mariposa Restaurant located at Silver Lake Lodge and met the Chef.  He introduced our first course; Dungeness Crab Causa – (Aji Chili lime juice mashed yukon gold potatoes, with an heirloom tomato and smashed avocado prepared with tomato water, and cilantro oil).  As he described our first course everyone gasped…oh the anticipation of great food!  You know it’s good when our mouths were watering at the description alone.  The taste…superb!  Then it was off to Empire Canyon Lodge.  We boarded the Luxury motor coaches provided by All Resort Express where we enjoyed ski movies as we headed up the canyon.  It was a perfect night with snow flurries shining in the light.  As we entered the lodge we were greeted by the smiling staff and a glass of wine.  The wines of the evening were paired by Clint Strohl, Manager of both the Silver Lake Lodge and Empire Canyon Lodge.  Julie Wilson, Director of Food & Beverage was there to provide us with a warm welcome.  Empire Canyon Lodge is home to the Fireside Dining Room.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to dine at this restaurant you better make sure to put it on your list because this is an experience you shouldn’t miss. Fireside Dining offers local favorites from the European Alps every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.  Fireside Dining at Empire Canyon Lodge features four courses served from the beautiful stone fireplaces.  You begin by visiting one fireplace to find their first course of warm Swiss raclette cheese accompanied by steamed new potatoes, house marinated pearl onions, cornichons, cured Italian and Swiss meats, freshly baked baguettes and condiments including house-made mustards and chutneys. Continuing to the next fireplace for simmering stews and fricassées made with hearty Alpine ingredients such as veal, venison, chicken, beef short ribs, quail, wild mushrooms, leeks, roasted tomatoes, root vegetables and fresh herbs.  Another fireplace serves leg of lamb, roasted slowly by the fire, brushed with fresh herbs and seasoning, accompanied by dutch oven specialties, polenta or three onion risotto.  Is your mouth watering yet?  If so, then hurry and make your reservation because Fireside Dining books quickly.  While you’re at it, be sure to add on a sleigh ride!  Sleigh rides are offered in 15 minute intervals around Deer Valley.  Enjoy the ride before, after or during dinner (you might need to take a breather).  Although Fireside dining is a great place to celebrate special occasions it is also a great experience for the entire family.  Kids are welcome and I guarantee as the mother of three boys, your kids will love it!  One of my favorite things about Fireside dining is talking with the chefs and learning about the courses and the preparations.  Last night I had the opportunity to meet Chef Adam Walker who is partipating in his externship with The Chefs Academy in Indianapolis.  Chef Adam spoke to us about what to expect while we waited and watched our cheese melt onto our plates.  Watching it melt slowly makes it that much better to taste.  We took Chef Adam’s preparation advice and off we went to garnish our cheese with the many options.  Interactive dining is like making new friends.  Speaking of which, we met Brian and Lisa Barnes from St. Louis, Missouri who are vacationing in Deer Valley this week.  Friends told them about Fireside Dining so they decided to check it out.  When they arrived, they found out the restaurant was closed for a special event!  In grand Deer Valley fashion and with the hospitality we have all come to know from the Deer Valley staff, Brian and Lisa were invited to stay and join the group.  They were so happy to grab a seat and of course they fit right in!  If you think Deer Valley is out of your league, think again.  If you join the staff at any of there restaurants (over 9) you are guaranteed friendly faces, amazing culinary cuisine and an incredible wine list.  By the end of Fireside we were pretty full but off we went to the Seafood Buffet at Snow Park Lodge where we enjoyed our final course of the evening.  The dessert bar at the Seafood Buffet offered decadent chocolates, pastries and so much more we couldn’t taste it all!  A big thank you to everyone at Deer Valley for creating such a wonderful evening for all of us to enjoy.
