The Royal Wedding Review

In the wee hours of America this morning, April 29th 2011, lovers of the UK Royalty, admirers of Prince  William and his beautiful bride Katherine, and those obsessed with weddings and fashion (and wedding fashion!) turned on their televisions, or  used whatever handheld device they had, to tune into The Royal Wedding. It was not only the focus of television stations everywhere all week, but it was being streamed from the Royal Wedding Channel on YouTube. I am not a bit surprised that many of our friends, families and fabulous vendors stayed up all night to soak up all the coverage.

Catherine Middleton and Prince William arrived at Westminster Abbey separately in beautiful classy cars. Kate was accompanied by her father, and Prince William was accompanied by his brother, Prince Harry.

To everyone’s pleasure, Kate wore a dress by creative director Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. It was a beautiful long sleeved v-neck gown with a lace overlay. The lace used on her dress was of course, French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace.  Her  delicate veil was ivory silk tulle trimmed with hand-embroidered flowers, and she topped it with a feminine Cartier ‘halo’ tiara that was lent to her by Queen Elizabeth.

Her shoes were also by Alexander McQueen. They were handmade and composed of ivory duchesse satin. Kate wore gorgeous diamond drop earrings that were gifted to her by her parents. She carried a beautiful and delicate bouquet that complemented the gorgeous lace detail on her gown.

She was attended by her sister Pippa and a collection of adorable children from the family.

They said their vows and continued onto Buckingham Palace, of course on their way, they toured the streets of London, greeting and celebrating with the citizens.

Once at Buckingham, the couple stood on the balcony with their family and attendants, greeted the gathering crowd, and had their official kiss as husband and wife.

The wedding day is full of celebration for not only The Royal Family, but guests and the citizens of the UK, as they obtain a fabulous new admirable member of the HRH.

Coverage will continue all day, and into the week, I’m sure. Catherine Middleton’s wedding day style and grace will inspire brides and wedding fashion for years to come.
