Winter is an incredible time in Park City, Utah and the Deer Valley areas.  Such an appropriate place to have a wedding ceremony if you are an avid skier.  Our client planned a beautiful wedding in the mountains and the theme the entire weekend was skiing and snowboarding.  She a skier and he a snowboarder made Park City and Deer Valley the appropriate place.  Guests traveled from all over the United States to attend the wedding, some spending up to one week in the area.  The ceremony took place with great views of the beautiful mountains of Deer Valley in the Bald Mountain room of Silver Lake Lodge.  We set up for 250 guests.  The chuppah was rustic and made of aspen tree branches and beautiful white floral.  Val of StellaPosy and Soiree teamed up to bring the outdoor in.  With great lighting, lots of candlelight, and white floral the fresh snow capped mountains glistened outside.  Did I mention the bride and groom arrived to their wedding ceremony via horse and sleigh?  So appropriate for the venue.  The only other option was to ski in…I’m sure if we had suggested it, they both would have considered it.  Thanks Sarah and Michael for making us a part of this wonderful day.

Jupiter Bowl a Great Venue in Park City

Located at Kimball Junction in Park City in the New Park Center

Yesterday I took my family to Jupiter Bowl in Park City.  This wonderful new family attraction opened last week and offers bowling, great food, and lots of fun!  I am sure you’re wondering why I have chosen to blog about it on our wedding blog.  As I sat and waited my turn to bowl, I took note of the wonderful atmosphere Jupiter Bowl provides.  Park City residents have bowled in Salt Lake City and Heber City in the past and to have a bowling alley right in our own town is a welcome treat.  My kids were excited and anxious to see this new family center.  They couldn’t wait anymore and we took the day to bowl and have lunch at Jupiter Bowl.

Jupiter Bowl is beautifully decorated with drum chandeliers.  The Lift is there restaurant located inside.  You may dine in the restaurant or enjoy your meal as you bowl. If you prefer to enjoy great food and skip the game that option is there too as the restaurant is open to the public.  This food is not your typical bowling alley food.  And the bar, it exhibits a mosaic glass structure in the center and the service is exceptional (our waitress Amber was very attentive), and the big screens TV are everywhere; including 3 screens the length of 15 bowling lanes!  I looked at all of the technology and beautiful high end decor and decided I had to share this new fabulous venue with our wedding clientele.  If you are looking for a fun, energetic atmosphere that keeps your guests  mingling, dancing, drinking, and eating you might want to consider Jupiter Bowl.  They have a great private area for groups under 100 with 4 private lanes, a private bar area and lounge seating.  This atmosphere can’t be beat for the right event.  I realize some people want to keep their rehearsal dinner a tad more formal but for those of you looking to welcome your guests in a fun and casual environment that is inviting and unique we found it for you.  Don’t drive by without taking a look inside.  I think this is a great way to celebrate and welcome your guests to Park City.   Cheers to the owners of Jupiter Bowl for bringing us a great facility for everyone!  For more information or to book your event contact us. We would be happy to build an event that is just right for you.

Tip Tuesday | Holiday Weddings

flowers with crystalstulipbouquetorangetulipsChristianLouboutin glitter platform pum775Holidays are about family and friends.  Weddings are about family and friends.  So why not combine the two?  Many couples decide to schedule their wedding day around holidays because so many of their family members are already together.   Many venues are decorated for the holidays making it easy on you and your budget to provide the wedding day decor that is right for you.  In the Fall, you’ll find lots of leaves, straw, squash and sensational color.  In December you might find Christmas trees, holiday lights, holly and mistletoe.  All of this decor can be good and bad.  If you are decorating with traditional elements then you’ll be glad.  If you wish to stay away from the holiday decor, well then we highly recommend you check with your wedding venue first and ask them to include a clause in your contract allowing you to remove any decor that might not be appropriate for your wedding.  Most venues will agree to this clause provided your vendors return all decor to it’s original place without damage.  Keep in mind, most hotels, resorts, and other venues go to great lengths to make their space festive so chances are you’ll love it!    Be creative and incorporate a splash to your escort card table.  Use wreaths on the doors at your church or reception venue.  In the pictures below, we used chocolate linens because the bride wanted to incorporate red and chocolate.  We created an escort card tree with a simple wire gadget.  We used lots of holy leaves and berries and of course combined them with candlelight and red roses.  The Snow Park Lodge in Deer Valley was decorated with a holiday tree and wreath making it a simple winter wonderland.  Of course the weather couldn’t have been better…it snowed all day!  Perfect for a winter wedding.  As the guests waiting for the bride to make it down the aisle, they sipped on hot apple cider.  Another idea, one of my favorites, you might want to add an extra touch of holiday chic with these sparkling red glitter pumps by Christian Louboutin.  What a great excuse to wear these wonderful shoes!  Dress up your holiday wedding from head to toe and have fun!  After all, tis’ the season.

Tip Tuesday: Make it Personal

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

We had a wonderful opportunity to work with a client who has a love for tradition.  Let me explain…She had her bouquet tied with the ribbon from a bouquet she caught at a wedding last year with her then “boyfriend”.  Her father sang at her wedding ceremony just as he did the day he married her mother.  All of these little things made their ceremony special.  As a planner, I recommend every bride add a little bit of tradition and their personal touch into their own wedding day to make it that much more special.  Everything this bride chose had a special meaning to her.  The photos, the toasting flutes, the hanky, earrings…the list goes on.  How wonderful for her to include a piece of her memories on her special day.  One of my favorite things about this wedding were the place cards.  She and the groom share personal feelings about apples so we incorporated apple candles falling from their own tree and attached the name of each guest and table assignments.  The entire wedding decor showcased a vintage feel.  The peach and apple green flowers were placed in vintage urns.  The linens were a wonderful green moire.  The accent tables were highlighted with a floral damask that was perfect for the vintage look.  From parrot tulips, old family photos, elegant linens, apples galore and a perfect wedding cake beaded with ivory swirls; this wedding came together beautifully.  To top it all off the bride wore a gorgeous Rivini lace gown with an organza sash.  Her accessories although new, were personally made by a friend at vintage bling.  Finally, their custom logo was carried out in their welcome bags, table numbers and cocktail napkins.   The bride and groom have relocated to Canada to begin their new life together.  Thanks to you both for letting us share in your special day!  We wish you love and happiness always.

Fashion Friday: A Bit of “Something” at Deer Valley Resort

Friday, November 13th, 2009

920-0322This beautiful Rivini gown purchased at White Couture Designer Bridal & Tuxedos tied in perfectly with the wedding theme and decor. Brides believe in traditions and nothing says it better then “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” In keeping with tradition, you may find ways to incorporate them into your wedding. Some brides may want to wear their mom’s gown but later decide maybe it’s just not the right one. Consider incorporating a “piece” of your mom’s gown from the hem or inside slip and have your seamstress sew a piece of her dress into yours. A heart shape, bell shape or interlocking rings are some ideas. You can hide this little add on to the inside slip or bodice of your gown. Or, maybe your grandmother has a bar pin in blue you can wear. babybraceletOne of our clients recently was given her fiances baby bracelet he wore at the hospital when he was born.Beaded in blue his name was spelled out. It was presented as a gift to the bride from the mother of the groom just before she walked down the aisle. Our bride chose to pin it to the inside seam of her gown and now her “somethings” were complete. There are so many ways to incorporate tradition with today’s modern bride. Make it meaningful to you and then save that tradition to pass on to your own daughter or daughter-in-law one day. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did!
