Fall Fashion Fun!

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Fall Fashion in Utah and the celebration of it is something that I thank my lucky stars for everyday-especially as the rain begins to fall and I lament the lack of the early sunrise. I will admit, there is nothing like hitting the streets of Park City with my new boots on, and of course a great dress to go with!

It all started September 6th, with Salt Lake’s biggest shopping party- Fashion’s Night Out…The Utah Bride and Groom team was in full support of the evening at Fashion Place Mall. The editor, Val Rasmussen partnered with Dillard’s to create four fantastic inspirational looks. Swag bags full of goodies were given away and the line continued to grow!

I had no choice but to shop-Val’s looks had inspired me and I wasn’t about to go home empty handed.

I can only imagine what the rest of the shopping population went home with, but I am sure that the ladies of Salt Lake were ready for all of these upcoming fall fashion events!

The fun isn’t over yet…

The October calendar is full of fun as the anticipation for the Park City Fall Fashion Fundraiser is next week(get your tickets!).  The Park City Women in Business group has been busy putting together this lovely event. Great local businesses are in full support, including of some familiar and great wedding vendors: Shutterbooth Utah, Chudleigh Weddings, and Lunatic Fringe Salon.

Of course, you’ll see some of your favorite boutiques (and some of mine too!) Koo de Ker, Flight, Mary Jane’s and many more(the involvement is growing daily!).  All proceeds benefit the Park City Women in Business Scholarship Fund-Helping Women Reach College. Tickets are available by clicking here.

Following the Park City Fall Fashion Fundraiser is the Art Meets Fashion event in Salt Lake…This event I am over the top excited for, since in my world, art meets fashion everyday!  Salt Lake Bride and Groom is focusing their blog this week on the glorious details and providing interesting designer spotlights on the event, so I suggest checking out their blog every day this week-there is some great information there.

I am excited to share that the lovely florist, Shelly Huynh of Orchid Dynasty is meeting fashion with her art this year. Word on the street is that there will be an incredible collision of floral artistry and models and fashion…can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!  This event is going to be an evening that is just not worth missing out on. The creativity and is going to be out of this world, and you will see local talent supporting local causes in the most perfect harmony, with a great selection of local musicians to provide a perfect ambiance!

Check out Salt Lake Bride and Groom’s Blog or www.artmeetsfashion.net for more information. The event is held in downtown Salt Lake, at 404 W. 700 S Salt Lake City Utah.

The Soirée Ladies Go to Vegas!

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

When the Soirée ladies hear Las Vegas calling our name…we have no choice but to hit the road.

Of course, it wasn’t just for a quick vacation; actually we set out for two weeks of work mixed in with some Las Vegas adventure.
All year, we have been anticipating the Wedding MBA Conference, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

We could barely contain our excitement for the great speakers, information and inspiration to be had. And really, how could it be any better, it is held in Las Vegas!
After a very busy summer we rushed out of Salt Lake, a 6 ½ hour drive ahead of us. All we could talk about was our expectations of the event and what was in store for us. Not to mention, our friend Pamela of the Sky Lodge in Park City was going to join us. Guaranteed fun!

The smart thing to do when at a conference in Vegas, is to make good use of the Tram.

It delivers you right to the convention center, and since classes begin early every day, the less walking the better!

We loved taking the Tram. Because so many great people in the wedding industry come to this conference, the Tram is simply full of interesting conversations and new friendships!

Each class was inspirational and full of interesting new ideas and refreshing reminders.

Many key people in the wedding industry were present, including speakers from Wedding Wire, The Knot, Susan Southerland, Kathy Ireland, Get Married Magazine, Brides.com, and many more.

Topics of discussion included 2012 Trends(We’ll give you a sneek peek at those later!), technological advancements(my favorite!), and endless amounts of inspiration. We are so excited to incorporate all that we learned and make every day an even better experience!

Of course, you can’t be in Las Vegas and ignore all the amazing dining there is to be had…we started out our week with an absolutely divine dinner with our lovely friend Pamela from the Skylodge.

We dined at Scarpetta in one of the newer Las Vegas hotels, the Cosmopolitan.

After dinner we visited the incredibly chic Chandelier lounge, and took in one of the most breathtaking views, Las Vegas at night. We definately felt as though we were at the intersection of art and life.

The Wedding MBA was incredibly informational, and we absolutely could not wait to bring our inspiration back to Park City…but there was yet more in store for the Soirée ladies in Las Vegas(stay tuned for more Las Vegas fun)!

Kicking off Fall with a Montage Deer Valley Wedding

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

It is September already, and we can’t believe how quickly the summer flew by. The next few weeks are still very busy for the Soirée Ladies, but I am excited to share with you some incredible weddings that we were lucky to be a part of this summer. I will start out with a sneek peek of last weekend’s wedding at the Montage Deer Valley.

There is much more to come, but for now, check out the teaser video from Chris McClain Productions and an introductory photo from CallawayGable Photography:

Summer Life in Park City

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Summer in Park City, of course, means a full schedule of weddings and events for the Soirée ladies.

It also means that the city itself is bursting with activity, many of which are unique to park city. Ski runs are transformed into incredible mountain bike and hiking paths. Lifts continue to run, not only for scenic summer rides but to assist in transporting mountain bikes to the top so riders can save their energy for a great ride down.

Park City’s own Utah Olympic Park runs awesome rides such as the famous Alpine slide, the zipline, the bobsled and more. They have a wealth of education opportunities and more fun including the Saturday freestyle pool shows.

One of my personal favorites about summer in Park City is the weekly live music that seems to envelope the town. Concerts of seriously jamming music are literally everywhere:

Snow Park at Deer Valley hosts great concerts in their outdoor Amphitheatre.

The Canyons brings in great and fun bands to their outdoor stage in their lovely village.

The St. Regis has introduced the “Big Names, Bright Stars Summer Concert Series” showcasing big name performers at the Snow Park Amphitheatre.

A great weekly stop is the Free Thursday Night Concert Series in the Newpark Town Center.

We really love it, because it’s a great time to throw on your flip flops, bring a blanket, a bottle of wine or two and just relax in the Newpark Town Center. Tradition is to order an oversized pizza To-Go from Maxwell’s and snack and mingle to the great live and local talent. I highly suggest at least experiencing a Newpark Thursday Concert with the locals of Park City. It’s one of our favorite weekly sunset activity and we suggest that everyone, especially visitors check it out!
